Obituary for Homer Mitch Lambert Jr

Homer Mitchell (“Mitch”) Lambert, Jr., age 58, stepped onto the shores of heaven Friday, April 20, 2018, a little after 1 p.m. Mitch passed away peacefully after a long but valiant fight against cancer, complicated by an infection that suddenly turned to septic shock from which his body was unable to recover. Born November 4, 1959, Mitch was the son of Homer Mitchell Lambert, Sr. and Rosalie (Shepard) Lambert, of Burns, Oregon. The family later moved to Salem, Oregon, where Mitch graduated high school. An avid master scuba diver and instructor, Mitch always loved the ocean and eventually settled in southern California to raise his son, Dustin. Mitch was a self-motivated, natural-born leader and thoroughly enjoyed his successful career in sales, rising quickly to become a dearly loved and respected sales manager and eventually Vice President of Sales. Mitch worked hard and played hard; he truly loved life! He enjoyed cooking, coaching his son’s sports teams, hanging out with friends, traveling, and always rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, his favorite team since he was 10. Mitch never met a stranger and was a mentor to countless people over the years, leaving a great impact on all who knew him. Mitch’s close friends consider him a brother and he is a second dad to many of Dustin’s friends. After a supposedly short-term career move to Rancho Cordova in 2009, Mitch met the love of his life, Star Lynne Hauff, just a few weeks before his 50th birthday. His temporary move soon became permanent and on a trip to Lake Tahoe a couple years later, the two were wed in a private ceremony overlooking Emerald Bay on July 11, 2011. The next year on September 15, 2012, Mitch and Star joyously exchanged wedding vows publicly amidst family and friends on the shores of Seal Beach, California. Mitch and Star traveled extensively, cruising often and regularly visiting various cities in Mexico, including their favorite, Puerto Peñasco. But whether they were at home or abroad, Mitch and Star just enjoyed being together. They hosted holiday parties (for which Mitch always outdid himself with the delicious spread), barbequed with friends and enjoyed quiet nights at home. Whatever came their way, Mitch and Star faced it together, which made all the difference. Mitch will be dearly missed by his wife, Star; his son, Dustin; his daughter, Christina Nakanaga; his granddaughter, Meah Sandoval; a granddaughter on the way, due late August to his son, Dustin, and daughter-of-the-heart, Alex Cummins; his mother, Rosalie Eilers; his two brothers, Dave Rudolph and Doug Reynolds; and many, many others. Mitch was preceded in death by his father, Homer.
A Celebration of Life Service and Luncheon is scheduled for Friday, May 11, 2018, at Lake Natoma Inn, 702 Gold Lake Drive, Folsom, Calif., starting with visitation at 11 a.m. and a Celebration Service at noon. A Celebration Luncheon will follow the service at the same location, where friends and family are encouraged to share fun, happy memories about Mitch.
